About the Committee

The School Enhancement Project aims to provide an educational environment for the whole-person development of students in SPC going through the very critical age from 12 to 18. SPC suffers from the lack of space within the confinement of the school campus. Whereas relocation to a new site is possible, and has been considered, it was finally ruled out for a number of reasons. One of them was that SPC has a long history of being identified with the current compact campus bound by Bonham Road, Pokfulam Road and Hing Hon Road. As Mr. Dennis Yuen, Principal of SPC, pointed out, “We decided that it is important to value the collective memory of the alumni. If we move to a new site, they would see a new SPC, but not the SPC that they remember.”

The alternative, of course, is to make use of the space available to us. We will add new structures to the existing ones. More importantly, we will use this opportunity to reorganize the various facilities for better functional connectivity. This would provide an environment favorable for interaction between all members of the College, from the Principal to the incoming Form-1 students. Furthermore, we aim to extend this to the greater community of the parents of the current students, and the alumni and their families.

The School Enhancement Project is indeed a forward-looking one. It may be considered a whole-scale upgrade of the School on all fronts. The hardware rebuilding and restructuring will have their logistic sequence, whereas the updating of many software equipments will align with the progress of the hardware front. In addition, the project would include the provisions for student activities and welfare. For example, scholarships will be set up for the underprivileged and handicapped, and special training will be made available to the students with exceptional individual talents. The entire project has been estimated to require a massive $400 million HKD. Although we have a healthy coffer for the operation of the College, it is not in the scale for the School Enhancement Project. Fund-raising is therefore necessary. It is divided into four campaigns, with each one identified with the progress on the various construction sub-projects.

The mandate of the Fundraising Committee was to raise fund for the St. Paul's College School Enhancement Project and to advance the general awareness of all stakeholders of St. Paul’s College to contribute to a common goal, to provide a better learning environment for our students.

The Committee will be the engine of growth and development for the ‘Foundation, building resources that will allow St. Paul’s to maintain its position at the cutting edge of STEM learning, while preserving ample space for extracurricular activities and community services, all key elements of a 21st ‘Century education.

Fundraising Committee Logo

After the fundraising committee has been formed, we all hope to create a new logo which represents this historic enhancement project. We use the royal blue and red from the school badge as dominant colours so people can recognize the identify the logo with St. Paul’s College. The dense foliage of the tree symbolizes the College while the strong roots which provide nutrients for the tree stand for the support from St. Paul’s College Foundation. As the tree grows and provides cover, the students will be well shaded while studying in the College.

The three elements included in the logo represent the relationship among St. Paul’s College, the Foundation and the students. It is expected that this fundraising event initiated by the Foundation will bring support to the School Enhancement Project consequently giving students an enhanced learning environment.
