Dear Donors:

At this festive season, let me wish you all Happy Holidays and a Prosperous and Healthy New Year.

Due to the pandemic, the 170th Anniversary Gala Dinner has to be postponed to a later date yet to be determined. On a bright note, the Fundraising Concert organized by the Alumni Choir was able to be held as scheduled on December 14 at the Hong Kong City Hall. The tittle of the concert was ‘Magnificent 170’ with a repertoire to highlight the Heritage and Traditions of St. Paul’s College. With the generous support of the sponsors, the concert raised over 1 million dollars which will go to the School Enhancement Project.

The Concert was a great success with the evening began with singing the School Hymn by the choirs. It was followed by a performance by the Senior Alumni Choir. Members of the choir all graduated in the 60s or early 70s, the Golden Years of the College Choir when it won numerous trophies at the School Music Festival. This was the first time for many members to stand on the very same stage they stood on 50 or even 60 years ago. It certainly brought back fond memories for all and gave an opportunity for them to express their affections for their Alma Mater. Distinguished alumni like Joseph Yam Chi Kong, Jasper Tsang Yok Sing and Ma Ho Fai were present to join this nostalgic event.

A special guest of the evening was a visually impaired alumnus, Joseph Cheung, who played a piece of lovely music that touched the heart of everyone in the Concert Hall. The admission of outstanding students like Joseph to St. Paul’s exemplifies the tradition of inclusiveness and brotherhood of the School.

The Alumni Choir continued to maintain a high standard of performance and it was no exception at this Concert. To add some extra elegance to the evening, the Alumni Choir had the pleasure to share the stage with the Diocesan Girls Graduate Singers. The joint choir gave a delightful performance that earned the accolade of those who were present. Other programs of the evening were equally exciting and the Concert came to a conclusion with the singing of the rousing College Song.

I truly believe the Concert was successful not only from the fine musical program, but it highlighted the deeper meaning of the St. Paul’s spirit. It was a revisit to our history and our heritage. The celebration of our School’s 170th Anniversary is a great opportunity for us to reflect on where we came from, examine where we stand and set a goal to inspire our students to build their future. The Enhancement Project and The Endowment Fund are instrumental to help St. Paul’s realizes its educational mission. The Fundraising Committee has to thank you one more time for making contributions in different manners and hope you can continue with your support to our School.
