Founded in 1851, St. Paul's College (SPC) is the oldest college in Hong Kong that has nurtured generations of outstanding graduates, many of whom have played a significant part in the continuing development and success of our society. As this year marks the 170th anniversary of the College, a series of anniversary activities are on the way under the theme “Celebrate Our Heritage, Build Our Future” to connect students and alumni from around the world and to commemorate this remarkable occasion. The celebration has begun today with the launch of the unique 170th anniversary tram and bus designed by graduates and students to symbolise the start of the SPC Journey. SPC also announced the establishment of a new Alumni Endowment Fund for Scholarships to provide extended learning opportunities for students from all backgrounds. In the spirit of SPC, renowned alumni from all fields joined the celebration today.

Celebrate Our Lasting Heritage and Guiding Principles
Speaking about the theme for the celebratory events, Mr. Dennis Yuen, Principal of St. Paul’s College, explained, “For 170 years, St. Paul’s College has served the local community with dedication. Honouring the long-standing commitment to educate young students based on Christian principles, we nurture and empower our students to achieve their best, and to serve and lead to make a better world. We call upon the entire SPC community to pass on our heritage and help build our future together.”

Build Our Future and Continue to Support Our Students
SPC has completed the first phase of its School Enhancement Project in 2019, which has significantly improved and expanded the facilities of SPC to meet our future needs. With the support of generous donations from the alumni, SPC is now undergoing the second phase of the Project to provide better learning environment to its students.

SPC is committed to provide all-round education that allows students to discover their interest and strengths as well as to serve and lead in the school and beyond. To equip our students with 21st Century learning skills in this rapidly changing digital society, SPC has developed diversified after-school activities including entrepreneurship workshops, internships with companies and programmes with technology partners. Another new initiative in celebration of the 170th anniversary this year is the establishment of an endowment fund that offers scholarships to the students,” Mr. Yuen added.

Alumni Endowment Fund to Benefit More Students
Guided by 3 leading principles – Options, Opportunities and Empowerment, SPC is renowned for developing our students intellectually, socially, spiritually, physically and artistically. SPC is also committed to the principle of inclusiveness and believes that no student should be prevented from attending SPC due to financial reasons.  In the SPC spirit, some alumni have initiated the establishment of an Alumni Endowment Fund for Scholarships to give back to the school. The seeding fund has already reached HKD30 million in pledges to support students’ school fees and other activities. In addition to the current supporting measures, the Fund is expected to benefit more than 100 students in a longer future.
