170th Anniversary - St. Paul’s College Alumni Choir Fundraising Concert – “MAGNIFICENT 170”

St. Paul’s College held the St. Paul’s College Alumni Choir Fund Raising Concert – “MAGNIFICENT 170” at the Hong Kong City Hall on December 14. Many celebrities and alumni  participated in the chorus to celebrate the 170th anniversary of their alma mater. Executive Council member Joseph Yam Chi-kwong, former President of the Legislative Council Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, National People’s Congress Deputy Ma Ho-fai, and the Executive Chairman of the Teochew International Federation Ian Chan Yau-nam, etc., and more than 100 alumni chorused. Young alumni who are active in the music industry, including Alan Po, and Hansun and Van from Nowhere boys, performed together with nearly 300 people from the choir of primary and secondary school students from St. Paul's College and the Diocesan Graduate Singers.

Yam Chi-kwong said it was such a rare opportunity,since his graduation in 1967, to gather nearly 30 alumni graduated in the 1960s for a school performance with time went by so fast. He added that his two-year advanced level studies at St. Paul's College was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Although he also participated in sports activities such as hiking, it was the singing of the choir that touched his heart. The alumni participates in singing and reading poems from time to time through video conferences.

Tsang Yok-sing said that the choir of St. Paul’s College has always been extraordinary, and he hopes that more alumni will join the alumni choir in the future. The alumni’s award-winning songs were specially picked for this performance.

The St. Paul’s College Alumni Choir Fund Raising Concert, “MAGNIFICENT 170” was held on December 14 at the Hong Kong City Hall. It successfully raised HK$1,000,000 for the School Enhancement Project. Alumni spanning 70 years gathered for the strongest performance ever, epitomising the theme of the 170th anniversary, "Celebrate Our Heritage. Build Our Future" for the 170th anniversary.
